What makes you a fertility counselor?
I have personal experience with infertility and I have taken a year-long course in fertility counseling as well as a mentorship year through the American Society of Reproductive Medicine of which I am a member. My office is conveniently located inside the Fertility Center of Maryland, although you do not have to be a patient of theirs to see me there. I
see all my fertility patients there, regardless of where they are being treated.
Do I have to answer questions that I don't want to answer?
I will never push you to disclose or do something that you’re not ready to say or do. Having said that, there are times during which therapy will cause discomfort, due to the fact that you are talking about uncomfortable things in your life. I will offer you a safe space to share your difficult experiences, thoughts, and feelings, when you are ready to do so.
Do you offer group therapy?
Yes, I do. I have a monthly fertility support group through RESOLVE (the National Infertility Association) for women and one for men too. The cost to attend the group is $30 per session. The men’s group meets every second Monday of the month, and the women’s group meets every third Monday evening of the month from 6:30-8PM. Please contact me for more information.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance. However, your insurance may pay for out-of-network providers. I encourage you to ask your insurance company if this is the case. One of the several benefits of paying privately is the increased confidentiality for you because information is not shared with your insurance company. Lastly, private pay gives you the freedom to see your therapist of choice. Choosing a therapist is an important decision.
Your comfort in the counseling session is essential.
How much will this cost?
If you have been shopping around, you will notice that my charge is lower and my sessions are longer than what most therapists provide. The reason for this is that I believe that therapy should be affordable for everyone. My initial consult is 60 min. long and costs $120. The reason for this is that it is a longer session, and I will be collecting a lot of important information from you. After the initial session, individuals pay $85 for a full hour and couples $95 for 60 min.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, checks or credit cards. Payment is due at the end of each session. I can provide you with documents to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.
